Synchronicities

Nothing exists beyond logic, science, and reason. Certainly, nothing beyond the five senses. Or, so I believed.

Stories of God and angels are just fantasy - aren’t they?

Having lived through a Spiritual Emergency, I now know with absolute certainty that there is something beyond what I once believed possible. What had been invisible to me for most of my life was now perfectly clear.

I had never been alone.

This sounds ominous, but if you have suffered with depression, you know the crippling pain of loneliness.

Recognizing that there had been a consistent presence throughout my life, whether I knew it or not, was tremendously comforting. Possibly even life-saving.

Through all of life’s ups and downs, but especially during long stretches of hopelessness and despair, none of us is ever truly alone.

Looking back, I could see what seemed to be a lifetime of celestial assistance. Call them guardian angels, Spirit Guides, the Universe, or a deep inner knowing (intuition) - whatever the name, I began to recognize a pattern of signs and synchronicities that served to guide me toward one thing: remembering my soul.

For nearly five decades, these clues had been appearing in my path, yet I hadn't noticed them. I had been so firmly anchored in the physical world that anything beyond logic and reason was simply invisible to me. My Spirit Guides must have been up there rolling their eyes in frustration.

Once I had separated from my ego, I could see these signs as clearly as puzzle pieces and wept simultaneously with gratitude and remorse ... and then I laughed at the totality of my denseness.  How had I missed all of these clues?

Seeing Life as a Puzzle

Even if you are highly skeptical, like I was, you may have experienced them too. Odd coincidences in your physical world - repeated numbers, symbols, signs, or a memory jogged by one of the five senses. The final chapter of Lightworker contains examples of some of the synchronicities that appeared throughout my own life, along with suggestions for recognizing them in both your personal history and in the present moment.

It’s amazing to see what is revealed if you can remain open to the idea that there is more to life than meets the eye.

For me, examining synchronicities alongside the events of my personal history changed the way I understood my past. Instead of seeing painful events as isolated or meaningless, I began to see them as puzzle pieces.

That shift in perspective brought greater compassion, clarity, and a certainty that my life had unfolded for a reason.

The puzzle pieces begin to fit

Once I’d put enough of my puzzle pieces together, I was able to complete the manuscript for Lightworker.

But the synchronicities didn’t stop. They continued to arrive with such frequency that I couldn't ignore them.

One series of events eventually led to what I believe was the revelation of my primary Spirit Guide. In the spring of 2022, I attended Christina Lopes' annual retreat in Portugal. Although we had never met, Christina’s virtual support and her own awakening experience had helped validate my Spiritual Emergency. More importantly, the knowledge gleaned from her website freed me from a misdiagnosis of bipolar disorder. Deeply grateful, I signed up for the retreat.

At the end of an educational and transformative week, we gathered for a final evening ceremony honouring the Divine Feminine. More than 100 participants formed two large circles around Christina as she guided us through the ceremony. The lights dimmed, candles were lit, and we closed our eyes. We were instructed to turn our attention inward and notice how our bodies responded as Christina called out the names of various spiritual and historical figures. Any strong resonance might indicate a connection with a Spirit Guide. Among the names were Gaia, Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, Kali Ma, Aphrodite, Athena, Parvati, Lakshmi, Isis, and Hera.

Most were unfamiliar to me. None produced a particularly strong reaction.

Then Christina called out, “Grandmother Anna!”

Instant recognition reverberated through my body like a lightning bolt. I couldn't explain it, but I knew that name. Logic immediately supplied an answer: my grandmother and my coach, Anna (known as Sophia in Lightworker), had both played pivotal roles in saving my life.

But this felt different. Who was Grandmother Anna?

The following morning, as I said goodbye to Christina, I mentioned my reaction and asked her about the name. Her answer nearly brought me to my knees.

“She was the grandmother of Jesus.”

To have such a powerful Spirit Guide, whether one believes in such things or not, definitely gives one pause to think.

Another piece falls into place

As I connected the dots, I thought about two pivotal moments in my life:

1996 - age 33 - Thoughts of my granny stopped me from choosing a watery grave.

2018 - age 55 - Coach Anna helped lead me out of the darkness.

The two moments when I seriously considered ending my life were 22 years apart.

These numerical synchronicities strengthened my belief that Grandmother Anna had been a significant presence throughout my life - and perhaps a guiding force behind the messages of unconditional Love and ancient wisdom that came through so strongly after my shift in consciousness - messages that ultimately became Lightworker.

And then came Leonardo

Curious to learn more about this mysterious “Grandmother Anna,” I searched for her, and soon stumbled across Leonardo da Vinci's The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne, a masterpiece alive with symbolism and emotion.

The painting’s description stopped me in my tracks:

“The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne is more than a painting - it is a meditation on love, sacrifice, and the interconnectedness of the human and divine.”

Those words could almost serve as a description of Lightworker itself.

Another puzzle piece.

Coincidence?

And just when I thought this particular puzzle was complete, another piece appeared.

Being a person who enjoys a good rescue story, I’ve been captivated by the passion of an Australian couple who are painstakingly restoring an 18th century French Chateau.  https://castlesandfamilies.com/france/chateau-de-purnon-tim-holding-felicity-selkirk While scrolling through the Chateau de Purnon website, I suddenly stopped.

There, in one of the abandoned rooms, was a framed print of The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne.

I stared at the screen.

Coincidence?  Maybe.

I’ll let you decide.

Because that's the thing about synchronicities. You don't have to believe what I believe. You don't even have to call them synchronicities, but it may be worth paying attention when life seems to place the same puzzle pieces in front of you more than once.

After my shift, I began to experience these moments everywhere, and I came to understand that these signs and synchronicities weren't random.

They were there to help me.

Primarily, to offer comfort and assurance that I was not alone. To remind me what Love feels like, to guide me back to my true Self, and to help me remember my soul.

And now, to provide support and reassurance that I’m on the right path.

Everything happens for a reason, and we need to start paying attention.
