About the Author

Traditionally, this section is written by someone else to introduce me (the author) to you, but there’s only me here… and, the truth is, I don’t really feel like an author.  Lightworker, more or less, wrote itself.

For most of my life, I have been an ordinary person doing ordinary things - school, career, marriage, and parenting - all while riding the usual ups and downs of daily life.  Adult responsibilities were compounded by an undercurrent of sadness born from a history of Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). Over time, the sadness morphed into occasional bouts of depression, which went undetected for decades, but eventually caught up with me after a series of losses. The end of a 25-year marriage, an empty nest, and the death of my dad, sank me so far into darkness that I eventually crashed at rock bottom where I faced the unthinkable choice - live or die.

Facing the Dark Night of the Soul is no joke, especially when you are living alone. But, with a little help from some friends at https://www.choose-again.com/, I stumbled through a forgiveness exercise that launched me out of the darkness. More chaotic and disruptive than your usual spiritual awakening, what I endured is referred to as a Spiritual Emergency.  The shift in consciousness saved my life, so I have no regrets, but it was a wild ride.

Not being in any way spiritual at the time, I had no idea what had happened to me.  All I knew was that I had been on the brink of self-destruction one day and completely at peace the next. As I pondered this wonderful new existence, a famous quote by the Buddha came to mind, ”Enlightenment is the end of suffering,” a statement that fit my experience perfectly.  But, isn’t enlightenment only for monks and mystics? How had someone like me broken through to inner peace?  I’m just a regular person - so ordinary as to be overlooked or unseen altogether - but, maybe that was the point.  Perhaps I went on this journey to show that enlightenment is not just for the ‘spiritually deserving few.’  It is available for everyone.

This stunning revelation blew my mind and forever changed my life. As a newly awakened soul, I was reconnected with Spirit, which released floodgates of energy and unleashed a veritable deluge of downloaded information. And so, I started writing, if only to make sense of the endless realizations that bombarded me at 3:00 am most mornings.

Even though the story is indeed mine, I rarely refer to Lightworker as MY book because very little of the wisdom came from me.  How could it?  I had no knowledge of consciousness or awakening and had very little exposure to spirituality. I barely knew how to meditate.  Despite my lack of qualifications, ancient wisdom continued to flow through me with such clarity, truth, and resonance that there was little doubt the information came directly from some higher power.  Spirit was determined to deliver a wake-up call to the world, and I was simply the messenger.

Lightworker is a vessel of hope containing everything that was shared with me before, during, and after my shift. It is a flashlight and map for those who are struggling to find their way. It is a reminder of what you already know in your heart to be true. It is a heartfelt testament to my spiritual awakening.  But, most of all, this book is a wondrous gift that has the power to transform your life.  Woven between the lines and throughout the pages is a message direct from the Universe:

Each and every being on this planet is a living embodiment of Source energy.

Accepting the belief that I embody Source energy (aka Divine/unconditional Love) blasted me out of depression practically overnight.  This new belief saved my life.  And, if I had found peace so quickly, everyone could do it!  How could I keep a gift like this to myself?  The book had to be written, and I had to write it… But, what a ridiculous amount of responsibility for an untrained writer and spiritual newbie!  Undaunted (okay…slightly daunted), I accepted the challenge and got the job done to the very best of my ability.  The book may not be perfect, but the message it carries is absolutely beautiful.

So, am I an author?  Maybe.  I’ll leave it up to you to decide.  For me, it was all about the journey... a bumpy ride for sure…but hopefully I cleared the path for you.  Again, I have absolutely no regrets.  I encourage you to read Lightworker.  Stop your roller-coaster, step out of the ordinary, and transform your life.

Inner peace is possible. And it changes everything.

  • "The lessons and takeaways from Denise's story are powerful and truly enjoyable to read. The perfect companion for anyone wondering...is there more to life than just what's right in front of me? Give yourself the gift of a story that does more than just entertain...but has the power to heal."

  • "I've read over 500 self-help books in my life, and Lightworker is one of my favorites. Denise's personal story is fascinating. Some parts were so dramatic that I was on the edge of my seat. I laughed and cried with her along the way. She takes a risk that only someone who is not too attached to their ego can take, allowing us to experience her inner life."

  • “Occasionally, genuine kundalini awakenings happen spontaneously to people who do not have a spiritual practice or who, until that moment, may not even have been aware of the existence of spiritual traditions and experiences. From a yogic point of view, such spontaneous awakenings result from spiritual efforts made in a previous lifetime and represent a unique opportunity to reenter the stream of spiritual practice.”
